History:

Setting up a mercenary organization, based in Dunfee, Illinois,U.S. he built a great fortress and gathered a sizable group of men. The would-be world conquerer intended to threatened every world capital with destruction, using giant Power-Transmitters . He required an experimental compact reactor to power these weapons, but also needed a gifted individual to gain the reactor for him. Seeing footage of football player, Hank McCoy, stopping some criminals from robbing his stadium, he and his aid Chico contrived to kidnap McCoy's parents to blackmail Hank into performing the robbery for them. The Conquistador's men kidnapped the McCoys and told Hank of their need for him. Hank carried out the robbery but even after returning the device to an elated Conquistador, his parents remained prisoners.

As Conquistador was about to power up his power transmitters, he and Hank battled, just as the X-Men arrived to rescue Hank and his parents. Conquistador's machine started but the energy poured into him instead, causing an overload, and as the X-Men and Hank escaped with his parents, Conquistador's fortress was blown apart in the ensuing explosion.

Abilities and Accessories:

Conquistador is a megalomaniac, believing himself able to conrol the world through fear of his machine and its destructive capabilities. He is an able leader, if not full of hubris and delusions, a competant fighter, electrician, and somewhat of a physicist, although these skills and his constructions may have come from lackeys or captured experts. Somehow he discovered or inherited 15th Century conquistador armour, weapons, and equipment and adapted and improved them for his own use.
