Home to the calm and grey-blue skinned humanoids, Duro. Duro is largely inhabitable and is surrounded by great space stations and shipyards.

Duro developed space travel quickly and millennia ago began forging the way through the galaxy, forming trade routes with many worlds, such as Corellia.

The technology of Duro grew so that the planet became industrialised, to the extent that almost the entire planet became polluted. Planetary resources were stripped and the natural farmlands, and much of the remaining wildlife, severely reduced, as great farming factories were replacing them. Neglect as the populace spread out amongst the stars led to the leadership of Duro transferring from ancestral royalty to corporate coalitions, mostly of shipping companies. The old traditions were lost to bureaucracy. Duro economy is mostly starship construction and development or exploration. Employing orbiting shipyards the Duros' build giant cargo carriers and other craft, and under Imperial contract they constructed huge cargo carriers, under Imperial law, however, these cargo ships could carry no armament or hyperdrives. Instead they had to rely on protection from the imperial fleet and patrols from any pirates or smugglers.

When in imperial control, Duro was further despoiled as intensive mining operations caused toxic wastelands near the Valley of Royalty. The Duro planetary government maintained a connection to the Empire but not a distinct alliance of any kind. The Empire had set up 'observation posts' on the planet and orbiting some of the larger space docks controlling any Rebel influence. When finally liberated from the Empire, the shipyards became important resources for the New Republic.

Tourists or visitors to Duro rarely go planetside. Most find what they are looking for in the multitude of space ports and orbiting stations without going down to the planet.
