TRISTRIS
The Tris is a huge, dun-coloured, muscular, six-legged steed favoured by the Coynites. It is indigenous to Coyn, in the Coynek System.
Carnivorous, they have huge fangs and blood-red, pupil-less eyes. Most Tris have a shaggy mane and great flowing, shaggy socks. They are intelligent, ferocious and headstrong. To break one for domestic use is very difficult and only the native Coynites have mastered them.
When a Coynite has broken one in, which can take six months or up to two years, the result is worthwhile. Tris are loyal, bonded mounts, more companion than pet or beast of burden.
Coynites encourage long manes in Tris, and braid or plait them to match that of their owner. They also decorate them with painted runes telling of the rider's accomplishments.
Tris' main predator is the ferocious Tangak, but Tris can put up a great fight and so they are not easy pray.
