Rifts title

Rifts is a post-apocalyptic, sci fi-fantasy setting. The world suffered a large nuclear war, and the devastation and death of billions of people within a very short time released latent psychic energy. The energy was enough to swell the energies of the Earth and the Ley Lines once again came into existence. Where these Ley lines crossed or met, called nexus points, Rifts into other dimensions and worlds opened. The world was shaken as its mystical powers were thrust into the view of all, this resulted in earthquakes, oceans to change the look of the world, and cities to fall. Creatures entered via the Rifts, and with no one to stop them, some settled and stayed. Of course not all the new comers were necessarily bad or evil. Others have appeared, once the destruction eased off, and tried to help mankind stand again.

The time now is approximately 100 years after the re-civilization of Humankind began. In the world of 100 P.A. (Post Apocalypse) there is much trouble and pain, but also much growth and joy. People live a quasi-modern life style; bio-mechanics mingles with horse and cart farming techniques. Petrol and other fuels are rare but some towns have fusion reactors. there are populations of people thrown back into feudalism, other cities, like the great Chi-town in what was once the Northern United States, has scientists and a whole, fully mechanized, power suited army - The Coalition. Creatures that arrived through the Rifts are known as D-Bees (Dimensional-Beings), many get along fine with Humankind, but the Coalition has promised to make Earth Humankind's again, by controlling or destroying any and all D-Bees and any Human betrayers who help them. Now Magic userscommonly walk down streets, through the wreckage of past skyscrapers. Strange monsters hunt in the dark or giant demons from dimensional Rifts lay to waste whole civilizations, before they either leave or are stopped. Life can be one of discovery or ultimate horror. Adventure is the only certainty!
