Of the many spells open to the Mancer the simplest are pften the first learnt and the first to be forgotten or disused. The base spell Trip, is open to any inquiring mind. Once taught even a latent could accomplish a Trip casting after only rudimentary study. A Manc often wrongly treated with disregard for its seemingly useless nature. The acolyte can often produce interesting results with a Trip. Indeed the Trip spell could be a saviour for an acolyte amongst battle with their more learned cousins. The Manc is always to aid; the Manc is so little distorted, with word and a gesture continuous Trips could, with effort and power, be cast.
The victim of a Trip has little to fear, save indignation. No harm can come directly as a result from a Trip spell. Once cast on a victim the next movement they make will cause a minor fumble. Highly dextrous victims may be able to save themselves little more than a stumble, whilst lower dextrous victims may find themselves tripping and potentially falling. The Trip only ensures the victim trips with their footing, once this has been established the Manc ends and it is nature and the victims own dexterity that may save them from falling over and operating normally. At casting the vistim's own Mance resitance may save them before any ill effects. If this fails, however, then they may make a Dexterity roll to avoid stumbling too much. Only critical fails of Dexterity cause the victim to fall to the floor.
Spell Casting:-
It is not essential to use either vocals or gestures in casting (unless not yet Level 1), and no loss of effect comes from one or both of their absenses. The range of the spell is purely dependent upon the caster's own sight, which could be improved with Manc. Nor indeed must the victim be overly clear, if the victim is only partially clear, the caster can identify it, and both gestures and vocals made, then the Trip sill still try and effect the victim. Without the gestures or vocals however, only clear sight will do.
Trip can not be stored, only spontaneously cast.
