ALLA-KAL MANC:
TREE OF METER
This is a specialist Alla-Kal Manc weapon. It is a mace, the head of
which is designed as that of the Tree Of Meter holy symbol. It is
crafted by any weaponsmith and then the priests, and only priests and
above, perform a ritual that imbues the Tree Of Meter with strength,
resilience, and protection as well as then being blessed. Other Manc
(applicable to weapons pr holy symbols) may then be placed upon the
mace and have no adverse affects to this ritual.
The ritual of 'Omniresolution' is performed by a priest or multiple
priests. The priests then anoint the weapon with holy essences and in
turn: fire, earth, grass or fresh leaves, and finally washed in holy
water. The Tree Of Meter mace is then 'rested' by being placed upon the
High Alter and preyed over and left in the presence of Meter's image
from sunrise to sunset. The ritual of omniresolution protects,
strengthens, and enriches the material of the weapon. This protects the
Tree Of Meter from age, corrosion, damage, Manc from non-Alla-Kal
clerics and aids in its accuracy when striking.
There are two forms of the mace. The first and easiest is the all-metal
mace, a one piece weapon that is treated as, and gains the bonuses,
mentioned above. It is 14 inches of shaft and then the trunk of the
tree begins to form from the shaft, forming the head of the mace,
giving a total length of 28". It weighs 5 pounds and has a
'unritulised' ABV of 4. It then has a leather grip added and may or may
not have a handle. It can also be made entirely from silver, which is
half the weight but also half the ABV.
The second form is the all-wood mace. Made from oakwood that has
mistletoe growing upon it, or any wood taken from Meter's Garden. It
has the same proportions as the metal mace but is lighter, being only
2.5 pounds. Its 'unritulised' ABV is 2(5). Due to the closeness of the
material used to Meter the all-wood mace gains one bonus the all-metal
one does not, it also has the ability to heal the wielder as many times
per day equal to the Level of the creator. The wooden mace is often
painted before the ritual of omniresolution and is thereby preserved
and protected from damage etc.
For either mace, after the ritual, the base ABV gains an extra ABV:
1(5) after all other modifications, as well as gaining an extra ABV: 1
to physical and incorporeal undead. For each priest taking part in the
ritual the Tree Of Meter gains +(1) ABV per Level of the priest, an
additional +1 ABV per two Levels of the priest against physical undead.
The weapon also turns all undead at 10% to the normal clerics chance,
indeed the weapon is a holy symbol. The weapon counts as being
blessed and therefore gives off a holy aura. The wielding of the Tree
Of Meter gives courage against Evil and suffering.
The ritual takes approximately three Turns. Added to this, the
'Resting' upon the High Alter. The ritual must be performed by the
holding cleric (regardless of their Level) at least every Pentawaek or
having tested the weapon greatly. Many clerics perform the ritual after
every battle, when time allows. Failure to do so could result in the
Tree Of Meter losing much of its properties.
Should Banish Manc be cast on the Tree Of Meter or any other way to
remove its power, then simply 'resting' the mace upon the same High
Alter will return the mace to its blessed state.
