A key that is adjustable. It appears as a long tube and has many slots. Into these slots can be placed flanges (comes with 100) that act as the flanges on a key. They come in a full range of sizes and multiple flanges can be placed along the length of the barrel. The user then tries each flange in place, feeling the give and exchanging the flanges until the correct set up is in place to unlock the lock. Larger barrels can be placed over the barrel (comes with three sized barrels) to allow for larger keyholes. Fits keyholes as small as ½ inch, 1½ inches and as large as 2 inches.
Using this to pick a lock gives +50, but takes 3D20 Rounds to figure the correct sequences and size, minus 1 Round for each whole 5% skill rating in Pick Locks and minus 1 Round for each whole 10% of Listening rating. Total minimum is 3 Rounds. For every 5 flanges missing from the kit, the bonus to pick lock is reduced by 1. Once the number of flanges has been reduced to 20 or less the kit is effectively useless and gives a maximum of +1 to Pick Lock skill.
Each failure has a 5% chance of breaking one of the flanges. Each critical failure means 1D4 flanges have broken in the attempt and another roll must be made. Another critical failure results in a broken barrel and the tool is useless.
