Julin Zurm Podaf
When cast this produces a cone of burning liquid sprayed from outstretched finger. The acid burns through all organic matter, and even marks simple metals. Regardless of the spell or item used to cast the spell, the caster must point a finger towards a target and the spray streams forth in a cone-shaped burst of acid.
The acid is clear and odourless and is not any natural acid known, in fact an alchemist would say it is not an acid but pure Manc liquid. The spray bursts forth at high pressure, for a distance of 6 feet + 1 foot per caster's level. At its origin it issues from the finger of the caster, at its end, it is 1 foot in diameter + 1 foot per level of the caster. (I.e. a Level 1 Mancer has an acid cone 7 feet long, with an end diameter of 2 feet, while a Level 8 Mancer has a 14 foot long spray that is 9 feet in diameter at its end.) The spray, other than widening into a cone, is straight and direct, catching all in its path. This could mean that part of the spray does not meet its target, if a blocking object is in the path.
When the spray hits organic substances, it immediately begins to eat into it, much like a strong, concentrated acid. It inflicts 10 x caster's level points of damage, with each P.O.D. equaling a Level 1 wound, which is reduced only by the layers within the organic substance and by any other materials included in or around the organic substance. Simple metals, (gold, silver, copper, iron) are marked as if etched, only thin simple metals would be so burnt as to be damaged or even destroyed. Steel is resistant to this acid spray, as is Parensis, Branwar or any alloy (Brass, Bronze, Electrum). Stone is also unaffected, and certain organic substances, such as scales of dragons, are also unaffected.
Example: A Level 5 Mancer casting an acid spray at a typical Serevmen warrior would cast a spray 11 feet long and be a 6 foot diameter cone doing 50 points of damage or 50 Level 1 wounds. 50 Level 1 wounds is equal to 10 Level 2 wounds, or 2 Level 3 wounds. This would be reduced by, for example, a chain shirt and legs and leather under-armour. 50 P.O.D. - (chain shirt of DBV 4 + chain legs of DBV 2) - (leather under-armour: torso, arms, legs and boots total DBV 3 (6) rounded off to 4) = 50 P.O.D. - 10 DBV = 40 P.O.D. These 40 P.O.D. are equal to 1 Level 3 wound and 3 Level 2 wounds.
It takes 10 Rounds - Level of caster in Rounds to complete its damage, to a minimum of 1 Round, after this it becomes inert and evaporates into nothing. Victims may Save Vs Manc and take half damage, dodge to avoid all damage or block, reducing damage, perhaps with a metal shield.
